I woke up to the alarm again, even
though I had another doctor’s appointment. This time it was with the infectious
disease doctor. I ate a toasted English muffin and then got ready to go.
I left at 8:30 AM. Unfortunately, it was sunny today. I couldn’t tell is it
was the typical “sunshine slowdown” or the people protesting the Emergency
Financial Manager (EFM), but at times we were on going 30 MPH heading east on I
-96. For those of you who don’t know this, people who are displeased with the
appointment of an EFM in Detroit are driving three abreast on the freeways here and there
and going very, very slow. This effectively brings traffic to a standstill.
I got on I-94 and luckily, the protestors were busy shutting down the
other side of the freeway, (I’m not kidding) so I made it there in time.
I went through the usual routine and
then talked to one of the doctors. It was funny as she remembered me (even my room
number) but I couldn’t place her at all. This didn’t surprise me as they would
come in teams all the time. When I explained why I was there, she brought in
another doctor who I did remember quite well from previous visits.
I got poked and prodded and they
viewed my x-rays from yesterday. They decided that they would try blood cultures, although they never worked in the hospital. The only culture that showed my
infection was from my biopsy. So, I gave up what seemed like a gallon of blood
for two bottles of culture and some other vials for regular testing. They also
wanted an MRI, STAT!
That’s a problem, because I am a
wuss and cannot go in that tube without being sedated. So, I will have to ask
one of my brothers to go with me (they won’t sedate you without someone else
being there).
I got home safe (this time the
protestors had shut down I-94 eastbound and the traffic was snarled for about
two miles). Dumbshits! That’s no way to get me on your side!!
Since I had the time, I finished my
taxes and eFiled them. So, I can check that off my ToDo list.
I ate a brat on a bun with deli
mustard for lunch and then headed into work. I had to fill up my gas tank,
first, though. These road trips are taking their toll on my pocketbook!
I did take my walk outside (although
the wind made it a bit brisk). And, I was pleased when my Granny Smith apple was
actually crisp for a change.
I left at 5:00 PM and got home quick. I treated the cats and changed clothes.
Then I worked on the computer for a while (tomorrow’s payday).
I warmed up the last half of grilled
steak for dinner. For a side, I steamed some frozen corn. Dinner was still tasty!
I finished my book and then watched a little TV, but I went to bed early as I was tired. Long day...
