Thursday was a repeat of the last several days except
for one major factor. The temperatures steadily fell and by lunchtime, it was
just miserable outside.
So, I skipped the errands or even going straight home.
I just popped into the Time Out. I had a cup of beef noodle soup to warm up and
then a chicken salad sandwich on pita
bread.
Now, there were two things wrong with the chicken
salad. Well, maybe not “wrong,” just different. On the rare occasions that I
make chicken salad, I use chicken chunks. This was made with shredded chicken
and so had the consistency of, say, tuna salad. It didn’t taste bad, its just
the texture was all wrong.
The second thing was that they overloaded the pita
bread with chicken salad. That sounds good when you write it, but not so good
when you try and pick it up and/or bite into it. It was probably the most messy
sandwich I ever ate (and I can eat an overloaded gyro without batting an eye or
dropping a thing).
The afternoon walk was taken inside as I only brought
my light rain jacket.
Once home, safe and warm inside, I treated cats,
changed clothes, turned on the news, fixed a cup of coffee and then attacked a
task I have been putting off far too long.
It dawned on me today at work, while I was wiping down
my cube surfaces with a cleaning wipe, that I wash my office, but never my desk
at home. Granted, there are a lot more germs at work but there’s a lot more
cat hair, coffee cup rings and dust at home.
So, I took everything except the monitor and printer
off the desk and washed all the surfaces with spray cleaner and a lot of paper towels. Then
I cleaned each item as I put it back.
I was right. It was disgusting.
It took almost an hour and half a roll of paper towels. Since I had everything out, I
did the glass surfaces on the two nightstands and the dresser in the bedroom while listening
to the news. Then I did the large wall mirror.
I watched the NBC Nightly News until 7:00 PM
and then fixed a BLT for dinner. Finally I watched the hockey game. The Wings were tied
with the Sharks all the way to the shootout, which we lost. It was a good game,
though.
Then I went to bed.
Then I went to bed.
