Happy May Day!

I woke up stiff and sore on Wednesday morning. Before I did anything, I grabbed the electric sweeper and went over the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and office floors. The mud I tracked in had dried overnight.

It was a gorgeous sunrise and the temperature was supposed to get to 77 degrees F. today, which is above average (for a change). So my morning walk was very enjoyable.

I went home at lunch and ate the rest of the fried rice. I was just pulling onto my street when the big green truck picking up the Bobcat was pulling away. I’ll miss old Bob!

It just kept getting hotter all afternoon, but the breeze made my afternoon walk still pleasant.

When I got home, it was 80 degrees in the house! I opened all the windows to rid the house of the winter air. I started the Wednesday night wash after changing my clothes. Then I went out and dug out the push mower. The grass is getting out of hand (no doubt due to the double-dose of fertilizer) and I hadn’t cut it yet. By comparison, my neighbor has cut his twice already.

I was grateful I had changed the oil in both mowers last fall and that the push mower started after two tugs.

I bounced over the shallow ruts in the front lawn, scalping clumps of sod as I went. I must say with the addition of the English Garden, it took a lot less time than it used to. But, with the ruts and so on, it sure didn’t look as nice as it used to. Sigh…

I finished that by 6:30 PM, so I got the wheelbarrow and the transfer shovel and started the tedious (and lengthy) process of getting the rest of the top soil off the driveway and filling in the gouges in the front lawn.

I quit at 7:00 PM. Not because I was done (oh, no, far from it) but because my back was hurting.

Inside, I put the wash in the dryer and then made some dinner. I went vegetarian tonight with a salad, the last remaining sweet corn and watermelon chunks Carla had gotten for dessert. I had the croutons and the romaine hearts for another Caesar salad but the dressing was all gone. So, I made do with Russian dressing.

I hung up the clothes and then reluctantly shut all the windows. I watched the taped season finale of the Vikings and was bummed when they announced the series would be coming back in 2014! Then I went to sleep.
