It was 51 degrees when I woke up on Thursday. It was
supposed to be sunny and a high of 80+ degrees F.
I stopped at Building 50 and gave them another bike seat to
recover and then drove into work with the window down.
Needless to say, I walked outside in the morning.
I had an irresistible craving for a gyro, so I went to the
Newburgh Grille and had one of their lunch specials: a gyro and a cup of soup
(I chose beef vegetable, their second best-tasting soup). Then I took a leisurely
drive through Hines Park.
I walked outside again in the afternoon, albeit a bit late
(I was stuck in a meeting).
When I got home, it was 87 degrees outside and 77 degrees
inside! The sun was streaming through the west-facing windows. So, I turned on
the air conditioner. I changed into my shorts and got out the push mower. I checked
the gas and oil and then cut the front and side lawns.
I decided the ground was still too soft to run the heavy riding
mower in the back yard (dammit) so I cut the first 1/4 of the back grass (next
to the house) with the push mower. Then I put everything away and came into the
house, sweating like a pig!
I washed up and changed t-shirts. I warmed up the last of
the linguine with clams and ate that for my dinner.
I checked and there was nothing interesting on TV, so I
finally fixed the Roku. I reset it to the factory settings. Actually, I reset
it twice. The first time, it just locked it up; so much so that I replaced the
batteries in the remote, thinking that was the problem.
Once it was alive again, I began the tedious task of typing
in all the information, using just arrow keys and the OK button. But, when it
was finally set up, I went on my Netflix account and picked the third episode
of Sherlock. I watched that and then went to bed.
