Wednesday morning, the lightning woke
me up before the alarm. So, I sat on the couch and watched the storm until 5:30
a.m. But it had stopped before I left a little after 7:00 a.m., headed for Home
Depot. So, knowing it was supposed to be warm, I didn’t wear a coat.
Naturally, it started raining again as
I was in Home Depot (they didn’t have what I wanted, BTW). So, I got soaked
heading out to the truck and then again getting into work from the parking lot.
It was still sprinkling when I walked
inside at 10:00 a.m.
But, it had stopped by lunch time. I
got a BLT at Time Out and then headed to Dick’s Sporting Goods in Westland. I
tried several pairs of boots on and finally picked out a pair I liked. They are
ankle high, steel-toed, waterproof boots that I think will work just fine for
riding my bike.
Sprinkles again kept me inside for the
afternoon walk.
I got home about 5:30 p.m. and found my
dry cleaning sponges on the porch and barf on the bedspread. Disgusted, I took
the bedspread off and treated it, then started what would be the first of two
Wednesday night washes.
With more rain predicted, damp roads
and a softened back yard, riding the motorcycle (as I’d planned) was out. So, I
grabbed the electric chainsaw and headed out back. There, a trash tree that
I have been trimming back for years was growing tall again. Normally, I wouldn’t consider this a
problem, (a tree is a tree, if pruned right) but it’s directly under the
electric wires that run across the back of the property. It had several trunks,
but I got it cut down, just as it started raining again. I took a couple of
pictures for you and then ran inside.
I watched the last of the Nightly News
and then warmed up leftovers for dinner. This time it was two more thin slices
of meatloaf and yet another baked potato. It was good!
I started watching an old John Wayne
movie called “They Were Expendable” on Turner Classic Movies that I had taped. It was
a 1944 movie directed by John Ford about the PT boats in the Pacific in WWII. I'd never seen it before and it was excellent.
I paused it when my daughter Melissa
called. We shared our horror stories about home repairs. I must say, after
talking with her for a while, I felt a lot better about my soot problems!
Once we hung up, I hung up the second
load of clothes and finished watching the movie. Then I went to bed.
