I went to the St. Mary's Mercy laboratory to have blood drawn for next Saturday's doctor checkup. I normally go before work (they open at 7:00 AM) but I was running late and so had to go at lunchtime.
The nurse there is usually good at hitting my vein on the first time, but not today. No matter how she prodded and poked around, she couldn't get it. So, she had to give up on my left arm and get it out of my right. I felt like a pincushion!
I had to put gas in the car in the rain. I would have waited, but I was almost out and they say it might rain up until Sunday.
When I got home after work, I checked the rain gauge again. Now there’s 1 1/2 inches of rain in it!
I cleaned up the drip pans on the stove with some Soft Scrub.
I was going to make a sandwich for dinner but, I don’t know if it is the rain, the grey skies or the chilly air, anyway I settled for some comfort food instead. I cubed up about a pound of unpeeled baby redskin potatoes and boiled them. I warmed up some jarred savory beef gravy in the microwave and then mashed the potatoes with an egg, a knob of butter and some milk. I made a big bowl of mashed potatoes with gravy, more butter and salt and pepper.
I ate that watching “Gator” (an old Burt Reynolds movie). I fell asleep before it was over and then woke up at 2:30 AM. I tried to fall back asleep, but no luck. So, I wrote and posted this at about 4:00 and plan on being dead at work on Friday.
